The SAFEWAY Fast & Furious Pleasanton powered by HILL PHYSICIANS MEDICAL GROUP

An all-day wellness and lifestyle family friendly festival that will bring the world of cycling and running together in one place while at the same time highlighting the “downtown experience” of Pleasanton, California.  Downtown Pleasanton offers competitors and spectators a wide variety of shopping and dining experiences before, during and after the event.  The quaint downtown allure is the perfect destination for those coming from out of town or from around the Bay Area. Come early and stay late!

The Safeway Fast & Furious Pleasanton features a full day of running and bike racing that will appeal to serious athletes, weekend warriors and families.   The day will begin with a 5k run/walk that will be tailored to those looking for a flat, fast 5k PR course but will also appeal to the casual runner/walker or family looking for a great way to spend a summer morning in Downtown Pleasanton.  The 5k will be followed by the Fast & Furious Kids Run. Each child will receive a finisher’s medal.

Following the Kids Run comes the much-anticipated “Mile of Truth”.  A fast, all-out, one-mile dash for cash with the overall male and female winners taking home a $2,000 cash prize purse and Juniors 17 & under, and Master 40+ vying for great prizes.

Immediately after the Mile of Truth, spectators will be treated to a full afternoon/evening of criterium style bike racing, from 11:30a - 8:00pm.

The evening will conclude with the 2012 NCNCA Elite Criterium Championship male and female races.  An all-out, high-octane professional race with the winner taking home the Fast & Furious championship cup, and the 2012 NCNCA Elite Criterium Champion jersey!  We are offering a $12,500 prize purse to attract the best cyclists from across the country and throughout the Bay Area.

Throughout the day, spectators, competitors, families and friends will be able to enjoy the wellness and lifestyle expo, which will feature local and regional health care vendors, lifestyle companies and specialty product manufacturers.  Most important, local restaurants, shops, bars and merchants will have the opportunity to showcase downtown Pleasanton as a dining and shopping destination.
